Import Screening Pilot Unleashes the Power of Data and Leverages Artificial Intelligence
I frequently emphasize the importance of data in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's work as a science-based regulatory agency, and the need to "unleash the power of data" through sophisticated mechanisms for collection, review and analysis so that it may become preventive, action-oriented information.

If you have kids in school, there's a good chance they're kicking off their school year...in your living room. All the while, you might be working away, yourself, in some carved out corner at home.
The start of a new school year is a good time to double-check your online set-up at home, since lots of people might depend on it. Here are a few things to check or consider.

Op-Ed by Commerce Secretary Wilbur L. Ross: Trump Continues to Fulfill his Promises on Trade
President Donald J. Trump has implemented more initiatives permanently improving our economy than any president who has preceded him.
We have experienced tremendous accomplishments over the last three and a half years as the Trump administration has implemented tax, regulatory, workforce, and trade policies that make the United States the number-one country for investment in new and expanded production capacity - for both American and International companies.

September 1, 2020, WASHINGTON - U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao announced today that the Trump Administration will award more than $1.2 billion in airport safety and infrastructure grants through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to 405 airports in 50 states and six U.S. territories.
"This $1.2 billion federal investment will improve our nation's airport infrastructure, enhance safety, and strengthen growth in local communities, which is especially important as the economy recovers from COVID-19," said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao.
The Department is awarding federal grants to the following airports in the Territory of Puerto Rico:
- $1,029,706 for Jose Aponte De La Torre Airport in Ceiba to rehabilitate the taxiway.
- $7,388,275 for Benjamin Rivera Noriega Airport in Culebra to purchase an emergency generator, install navigational aids, reconstruct airfield guidance signs and lighting, and rehabilitate the runway and taxiway.
- $6,078,645 for Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan to reconstruct the taxiway and purchase Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting (ARFF) equipment.
"The 434 AIP grants will fund critical airport infrastructure projects around the country," said FAA Administrator Stephen M. Dickson.
Since January 2017, the Trump Administration delivered $13.5 billion to America's airports to improve infrastructure and safety. In 2020, the Administration delivered $10 billion in economic assistance to America's airports during the COVID-19 public health emergency.

As Gridlock Persists in Washington, Small Businesses Count the Rising Cost of Inaction
September is here and change is in the air. But what should be a time of optimism for millions of small businesses as they prepare for the busiest shopping seasons of the year is turning to dread as COVID-19 persists, temporary government assistance runs out, and gridlock continues on Capitol Hill.
Even the most resilient small businesses are feeling the pressure.

Every Puerto Rican
Should be Discussing the Status!
As we publish The Zenith Investor for September 2020, we must discuss the current fiscal and political situation of Puerto Rico. Let us begin with the fiscal scenario, the Gross National Product for Puerto Rico in 2019 was $70 billion at the current economic index, which equated to 1.7%. Since the Pandemic began, our economy is has contracted due to the severe exogenous shock. The expectation is to close 2020 with a -6.0% contraction. However, let's imagine how Puerto Rico would look like with real growth of 4% GNP.
