Gobernadora Vázquez Garced atiende recomendaciones de líderes sindicales en el proceso de encaminar la reapertura de los centros de trabajo ante la emergencia del COVID-19
(7 de mayo de 2020 - La Fortaleza, San Juan) - La gobernadora Wanda Vázquez Garced atendió a diferentes líderes sindicales en llamada telefónica para atender los distintos reclamos o preocupaciones de los trabajadores en el sector público y privado ante la emergencia del coronavirus COVID-19.
"El movimiento obrero en Puerto Rico es un sector importante dentro de la sociedad puertorriqueña. En estos momentos de emergencia, la comunicación con los trabajadores y los gremios sindicales es vital para poder afrontar los retos que presenta la emergencia del COVID-19. Tuvimos la oportunidad de escuchar algunas de sus preocupaciones, las cuales estaremos trabajando con el comité de trabajo designado en La Fortaleza. Próximamente estaremos convocando una reunión con los líderes sindicales de Puerto Rico, para escuchar todas sus recomendaciones y en conjunto podamos trabajar para superar esta emergencia en beneficio del pueblo de Puerto Rico", indicó la gobernadora.

Programa de Salud y Seguridad para el Destino
Puerto Rico está comprometido con su meta de sentar pauta y convertirse en el modelo a seguir con relación a los estándares de seguridad para destinos turísticos. Reconociendo las nuevas normas de distanciamiento social, limpieza, desinfección e higiene y la ventaja competitiva que esto representa para un destino, la Compañía de Turismo ha diseñado un programa para garantizar los más altos estándares de seguridad en todos los sectores de la industria.
La salud seguridad y bienestar de nuestra fuerza de trabajo, visitantes, y todos aquellos a los que prestamos servicios es nuestra prioridad. Reconocemos que, además las prácticas de distanciamiento social, las cuales se mantendrán vigentes y se convertirán en la norma en los próximos meses, tenemos que hacer más para reducir el riesgo de contagio del COVID-19.

APLICABILIDAD DEL CIERRE DE OPERACIONES EN EL SECTOR PRIVADO CONFORME AL BOLETÍN ADMINISTRATIVO NÚM. OE-2020-038
La Sección 4ta de la OE-2020-038, establece que las disposiciones establecidas en ella podrán ser definidas y reforzadas detalladamente mediante guías emitidas por las agencias una vez sean previamente aprobadas por la Gobernadora o el Secretario de la Gobernación. Conforme a lo anterior, el propósito de esta Carta Circular es proveer guías, en torno a la aplicabilidad de las disposiciones de a OE-2020-038 a sus operaciones.

 Ante retos extraordinarios como lo es la propagación a nivel mundial del coronavirus o COVID-19, en el Congreso aprobamos el paquete de estímulo económico más grande de nuestra historia, para el que abogamos y conseguimos la inclusión de Puerto Rico en igualdad de condiciones con los demás estados.A la fecha, se han asignado $5,669,106,980.80 en fondos federales a Puerto Rico para mitigar la pandemia del COVID 19.Debido a que estas leyes son recientes y los reglamentos están en constante revisión, les exhorto a que continúen pendientes a nuestras comunicaciones, las del gobierno estatal y federal.Ante esta situación no estás solo, estamos todos UNIDOS.

WASHINGTON - U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross today announced that the Department's Economic Development Administration (EDA) is now accepting applications from eligible grantees for Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) supplemental funds (EDA CARES Act Recovery Assistance) intended to help communities prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus.
"President Trump is working tirelessly to make sure Americans stay safe during this crisis and that our economy is loaded to spring back when this global scourge recedes," said Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross. "EDA CARES Act Recovery Assistance funds will support the long-term recovery of communities across the nation that have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic."

La crisis causada por el coronavirus ha expuesto lo mejor y lo peor de la naturaleza humana. Lo mejor: organizaciones de caridad de todo el país están redoblando sus esfuerzos y la gente está donando lo que puede.  Además, FEMA Mass Care realizará un llamamiento a los municipios para que reúnan información para los esfuerzos de alimentación que se están llevando a cabo en toda la isla. El llamado está programado para comenzar el lunes 11 de mayo de 2020. La información ayudará al Comité de Alimentación de PREMB a tomar decisiones e identificar los desafíos. El siguiente mensaje es para su conciencia.
"A medida que la pandemia continúa afectando las vidas de nuestros ciudadanos, FEMA en apoyo del Gobierno de Puerto Rico continúa evaluando todos los recursos y capacidades potenciales para asegurar que estemos continuamente preparados para responder y recuperarnos. Múltiples esfuerzos para proveer alimentación se han estado llevado a cabo tanto por las agencias estatales o gubernamentales, organizaciones no gubernamentales, el sector privado y los municipios. FEMA se estará comunicando con los municipios para identificar los múltiples esfuerzos de alimentación que se estén llevando a cabo. Esta información se unirá a la de los otros esfuerzos para identificar posibles necesidades y redirigir recursos a áreas que no estén cubiertas. El personal de FEMA recopilará esta información en apoyo de los esfuerzos holísticos que el Gobierno de Puerto Rico está realizando para desarrollar un enfoque estratégico como parte de nuestro continuo esfuerzo de planificación."

Moving forward, knowing who among us has previously contracted COVID-19 will help us understand the spread of the disease and the extent of societal prevalence.
Enter serological tests - or antibody tests - that can quickly identify who has been exposed to the virus but no longer carries an active infection.
The first COVID-19 antibody tests entered the U.S. in mid-March, but many of them lacked FDA review, and thus, did not meet FDA's stringent standards for accuracy. Some were even maliciously intentioned. FDA Deputy Commissioner Anand Shah and Director of the Center for Devices and Radiological Health Jeff Shuren warned of "unscrupulous actors marketing fraudulent test kits and using the pandemic as an opportunity to take advantage of Americans' anxiety." So, this week, the FDA issued new guidance dictating stronger oversight of COVID-19 antibody tests. According to the guidance, manufacturers must submit an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) request for their antibody tests, complete with data to prove the tests' accuracy, within 10 days of entering the market. To date, 12 antibody tests have an EUA, and 200 tests are undergoing review. One authorized test, delivered by Roche Holding, has 100% sensitivity in detecting the virus and 99.8% specificity, meaning only two in every 1,000 samples tested might produce a "false positive" result. In other words, it's top of the line. Thanks to productive collaboration between industry players like Roche and the government, we may soon have more data to help guide fact-based decision-making.

While COVID-19-related travel restrictions make it hard to plan a vacation now, the travel industry is doing everything it can to make it attractive - if not now, then very soon. The good news: It's a buyer's market out there.
"This is a unicorn situation for three reasons," says Lara Barlow, general manager of Travelzoo, a website that creates and vets travel deals. "The deals are never-before-seen amazing, they are all flexible, and they start in what would be considered high season."

Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is providing an update on the agency's efforts to combat the extremely concerning actions by companies and individuals that are exploiting or taking advantage of widespread fear among consumers during the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to scammers on the internet selling unproven medical products, the FDA has taken - and continues to take - a number of steps to find and stop those selling unapproved products that fraudulently claim to mitigate, prevent, treat, diagnose or cure COVID-19.

SBA Awards Funding to Organizations Delivering Entrepreneurship Training to Women Veterans and Military Spouses
WASHINGTON - The U.S. Small Business Administration today awarded $300,000 in grants to three organizations offering entrepreneurship training to women service members, veterans and military spouses.
The funding opportunity, offered by SBA's Office of Veterans Business Development, supports each organization's entrepreneurial programs for women who serve in our military and veteran communities. Each awardee was chosen based on their demonstrated history of and commitment to providing training programs and resources to women.
