Join the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Washington Government Relations Group on Monday, February 22 at 10:00 a.m. EST for Equality of Opportunity Dialogue: Fostering Diversity in Government Affairs. This conversation on diversifying government affairs staffs with industry leaders will explore the skill sets, relationships and experience needed to address the major components of a successful government relations strategy. We will also discuss what tools are available for building a more diverse pipeline, and what can be done to bridge the current gap.

The U.S. Department of State, in consultation with industry and other federal agencies as appropriate, should promote a system of norms, built through international engagement and cooperation, that promotes responsible behavior in cyberspace and over time reduces cyber risk to critical infrastructure. Such a framework should build on existing agreements and include confidence building measures and enforcement. The U.S. government should focus on helping foreign governments on norms implementation, building and partnering with allies to hold nation-state actors accountable for cyber activity that deviates from norms of responsible behavior, and working on identifying gaps in established norms.

The U.S. should also assess whether existing government and non-governmental initiates that focus on increasing the stability in cyberspace, such as the Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace or the Paris Call for Trust and Stability in Cyberspace would benefit from their endorsement.

This discussion will explore ILR’s mission, our strategies for building diversity in the field of corporate law, and how we are working to connect these goals with the next generation of students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

ILR President Harold Kim will kick off the program with a fireside chat. Then, U.S. Chamber’s Senior Vice President for Strategic Alliances and Outreach, Rick Wade, will host a panel of legal industry experts to discuss the importance of diversity in the workplace, explore some of ILR’s key issues, and provide a forum for HBCU students to connect with leaders in the business community. The program will conclude with Q&A.

Confirmed speakers include, Dean Danielle Holley-Walker, Howard Law School; Former Attorney General of Georgia Thurbert Baker, Dentons; and Kimberly Phillips, General Counsel, Global Litigation of Shell Oil Company. Additional speakers to be announced soon.

El Departamento de Vivienda de Puerto Rico (PRDOH) está aceptando solicitudes de Expresión de Interés para el Programa de Cartera de Inversión en Desarrollo Económico (IPG, por sus siglas en inglés) de CDBG-DR. El Programa IPG busca aliviar los efectos económicos exacerbados por los huracanes a través de proyectos de redesarrollo a gran escala que son transformadores y crean empleos y/o generan un impacto económico en cascada. El Programa IPG ha sido asignado con un total de ochocientos millones de dólares ($800,000,000) en el Plan de Acción CDBG-DR de Puerto Rico, y sus enmiendas; valor sujeto a cambios en enmiendas subsecuentes.
