Gobernadora convierte ley que asiste a personas de la tercera edad para solicitar créditos contributivos reembolsables
(3 de julio de 2020 - La Fortaleza, San Juan) - La gobernadora Wanda Vázquez Garced convirtió en ley el "Programa de Asistencia a Personas de 65 años o más de Bajos Recursos" mediante el cual los contribuyentes de la tercera edad podrán acceder a cualquier especialista debidamente registrado por el Departamento de Hacienda para que les oriente y asista en el proceso de solicitud de los créditos contributivos reembolsables.
La nueva ley establece que será sin costo para el contribuyente y con un reembolso de $25 para los especialistas que brinden la ayuda. El pasado 17 de junio, Vázquez Garced había enviado a la Legislatura la medida para su consideración.

Appeals Court and Department of Labor Support SEC's Best Interest Rule
On Friday, June 26, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit upheld the SEC's Best Interest Rule. The U.S. Chamber submitted a brief in support of the SEC's arguments that it has statutory authority under the Dodd-Frank Act and federal securities laws to promulgate Regulation BI, and that the SEC did not act arbitrarily or capriciously in promulgating the regulation. The U.S. Chamber's Center for Capital Markets Competitiveness (CCMC) applauds the ruling.

SBA Administrator Appoints New Members to National Small Business Development Center Advisory Board
July 1, 2020, WASHINGTON - SBA Administrator Jovita Carranza today announced the appointment of six new members to the National Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) Advisory Board.
"We are delighted to welcome new board members who bring with them a strong business acumen and extensive knowledge to the SBDC Advisory Board," said SBA Administrator Jovita Carranza. "The SBDC Advisory Board has played an important role for 30 years in the SBDC program, advising the SBA on ways to advance and improve national and local SBDC programs and operations. With their knowledge of the challenges business owners face and the policies governing small firms, these tested entrepreneurs and leaders will play a key role in helping to foster stronger local economies and expanding outreach to underserved communities."

La FDA toma medidas para advertir y proteger a los consumidores de los desinfectantes de manos peligrosos a base de alcohol que contienen metanol
Como parte de sus esfuerzos continuos para proteger al público, la Administración de Alimentos y Medicamentos de los EE. UU. (FDA, por sus siglas en inglés) está advirtiendo a los consumidores y profesionales de la salud sobre los desinfectantes de manos que contienen metanol o alcohol de madera, una sustancia que se usa a menudo para crear combustibles y anticongelantes, la cual no es un ingrediente activo aceptable para productos desinfectantes de manos y puede ser tóxica cuando se absorbe a través de la piel y mortal cuando se ingiere. La agencia ha visto un aumento en los productos desinfectantes de manos que indican en la etiqueta contener etanol (también conocido como alcohol etílico) pero que han dado resultados positivos a contaminación de metanol. Las autoridades estatales también han reportado eventos adversos recientes como ceguera, hospitalizaciones y fallecimientos de adultos y niños que han ingerido productos desinfectantes de manos contaminados con metanol.
