El Secretario del Departamento de Hacienda (DH), Francisco Parés Alicea, sometió esta tarde al Servicio de Rentas Internas (IRS, por sus siglas en inglés) y al Tesoro Federal, el plan para la distribución del nuevo estímulo económico de $1,400 firmado por el presidente de Estados Unidos, Joe Biden, que podría alcanzar los $3.5 billones e impactar a 2.6 millones de personas, aproximadamente.

Exporting can provide important benefits to all companies, including women-owned firms.

Women-owned businesses that export:

- employ more workers,

- pay higher wages, and

- report higher-than-average sales.

We encourage all U.S. businesses to begin to export or increase exports to new markets.

The United States has provided about $6 trillion in total economic relief to the American people during the coronavirus pandemic, including the $1.9 trillion that was approved when President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act into law on Thursday, amounting to about 27 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). Much of the economic relief in the American Rescue Plan is administered through the tax code in the form of direct payments (stimulus checks) and expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) in 2021. The size and method of relief will revive debates over the proper role of spending in the tax code and whether the temporary benefits should become permanent after the economy has recovered.

The various retirement plans of the Government of Puerto Rico must be the focus of Title III bankruptcy proceedings under the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management and Economic Stability Act (Promesa). These retirement plans—particularly the central government’s, which no longer exists and is honored on a pay-as-you-go plan, as well as pension systems covering teachers, the judiciary and public corporations—required a significant restructuring even before the commonwealth sought bankruptcy protection under Promesa in 2017.
