El Secretario del Departamento de Hacienda (DH), Francisco Parés Alicea, informó que los ingresos netos al Fondo General durante enero, séptimo mes del periodo fiscal 2021, totalizaron en $817.0 millones, mientras que los recaudos acumulados de julio a enero, alcanzaron los $6,033.0 millones, comparados $5,954.6 millones, registrados para el mismo periodo del año fiscal 2020.

April 6, 2021 (IEEFA) ⎼ New research has revealed major problems in the procurement process that resulted in the selection of LUMA Energy to operate Puerto Rico’s electrical grid, according to testimony given today to a Puerto Rico House of Representatives committee.

Tom Sanzillo, director of financial analysis at the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA), told Puerto Rican lawmakers that an October IEEFA report already found that the deal to outsource the island’s grid management to a private company lacked sufficient oversight; hid additional costs; lacked performance metrics; and mismanaged the utility’s workforce.

Ten months into New York’s just-ended fiscal year (most recent data), state tax revenue was actually up year-over-year. By a miniscule amount—it’s probably best to see FY 2021 revenue as essentially flat—but up nonetheless, it’s a curious backdrop for a proposal to raise both individual and corporate income taxes. If a tentative budget agreement goes through, New York taxes would go up $4.3 billion. For New York City residents, who face both city and state taxes, that yields a top marginal individual income tax rate of 14.776 percent, while most businesses in the city would face a top corporate rate of 16.1 percent (even more for the finance industry).
