San Juan, Puerto Rico- “Agradezco a la presidenta de la Cámara de Representantes federal, Nancy Pelosi, al presidente de la Comisión de Medios y Arbitrios, Richard Neal y al líder de la Mayoría Steny Hoyer, porque con su liderato y compromiso con Puerto Rico, anoche, una vez más, le hicieron justicia a los miles de residentes de Puerto Rico. Esto, al incluir a la Isla en la extensión total del programa Child Tax Credit (CTC) y el pareo a un programa local ampliado del Crédito por Ingreso Devengado (EITC, por sus siglas en inglés) que están en el proyecto de reconciliación presupuestaria.

DMO launches economic development handbook |
As an organization that promotes sustainable economic development throughout the visitor’s economy, we know the importance that tourism represents to the economic growth of the island. For the past three years, our Bottom-Up Destination Recovery Initiative has been immersed in the west, north and east region of Puerto Rico, working from and for the community in identifying those areas of opportunity that could increase the number of visitors they receive and therefore boost the economic activity.
One key opportunity to drive more visitors to the regions is creating more tools to showcase their key assets. Luckily, Discover Puerto Rico (DMO) has developed the “Municipal Economic Development Guide”, a handbook to help promote economic development in towns and communities across the island to boost the creation of additional jobs through tourism.
The guide features sales, marketing, and communication aids to assist mayors, tourism directors, and businesses that serve the tourism sector, to help promote economic activity in their corresponding municipalities. If you work in the sector, you can register on the DMO’s webpage and begin to benefit from this tool at hand.

Romance scams take record dollars in 2020 |
They say love hurts. With romance scams that’s doubly true – hearts are broken and wallets are emptied. For three years running, people have reported losing more money on romance scams than on any other fraud type identified in Sentinel.1 In 2020, reported losses to romance scams reached a record $304 million, up about 50% from 2019. For an individual, that meant a median dollar loss of $2,500. From 2016 to 2020, reported total dollar losses increased more than fourfold, and the number of reports nearly tripled.

Los profesionales de la salud que tengan síntomas de COVID-19 o sospecha de haberse contagiado podrán acudir a las facilidades del Colegio de Médicos Cirujanos de Puerto Rico, lunes a viernes de 8:00am a 5:00pm, para realizarse la prueba diagnóstica rápida que los saque de dudas.
El doctor Víctor Ramos, presidente del Colegio, informó que esta gestión se realiza en alianza con la Asociación de IPA's, la Cámara de Comercio de Puerto Rico, el Colegio de Enfermería Práctica y organizaciones aliadas a la salud. El servicio es libre de costo, los profesionales de la salud solo necesitan llevar una orden médica y sacar cita antes de ir.
