Gobernadora Vázquez Garced emite Orden Ejecutiva 2020-038 que extiende toque de queda y permite de forma limitada algunas industrias, comercios y servicios
 (30 de abril de 2020- La Fortaleza, San Juan) - La gobernadora Wanda Vázquez Garced anunció que mañana presentará la Orden Ejecutiva 2020-038, que extiende el periodo de toque de queda hasta el 25 de mayo, persiguiendo controlar aún más el riesgo de contagio del coronavirus COVID-19 en la isla, al tiempo que permite de forma limitada la apertura de ciertas industrias, comercios y servicios en horarios específicos. Gobernadora Vázquez Garced anuncia aprobación del plan de distribución del Pago de Impacto Económico de $1,200
(1ro de mayo - La Fortaleza, San Juan)- La gobernadora Wanda Vázquez Garced anunció la aprobación del plan de distribución del Pago de Impacto Económico de $1,200 para los residentes hábiles de Puerto Rico. "Luego de muchas conversaciones e intercambio de información con el Servicio de Rentas Internas Federal (IRS) y con el Tesoro de los Estados Unidos, ya contamos con la aprobación de las guías que se utilizarán para hacer llegar esta ayuda a los puertorriqueños. Este es el resultado de un trabajo intenso y comprometido de parte de todos los componentes del gobierno que intervinieron, en especial del secretario del Departamento de Hacienda, Francisco Parés Alicea", dijo la primera ejecutiva. Vázquez Garced explicó que Hacienda se encargará de la identificación de los ciudadanos y el desembolso de toda la ayuda a los residentes de Puerto Rico, que se estima en $3,000 millones, aproximadamente. Exención del pago del Impuesto Sobre Ventas en artículos de primera necesidad
ante el Covid-19

Es probable que sepas que hay escasez de pruebas de COVID-19. ¿Pero sabías que no hay escasez de estafadores que establecen sitios de pruebas de COVID-19 para sacar ventaja de la crisis?
Esos falsos sitios de pruebas pueden parecer auténticos, con carteles, tiendas y trajes de materiales peligroso de aspecto legítimo y pruebas que parecen reales. Y el daño que pueden causar estos sitios falsos de pruebas es muy real. No están siguiendo los protocolos sanitarios, de modo que pueden propagar el virus. En esos sitios están tomando la información personal de la gente, incluyendo los números de Seguro Social, información de tarjetas de crédito y otros datos de salud - todo lo cual se puede usar para perpetrar robo de identidad y acumular gastos en tu factura de tarjeta de crédito. Y lo peor de todo, no están brindando la ayuda que la gente necesita para mantenerse saludable. En otras palabras, estos sitios de pruebas son una mala noticia.

Unemployment Still Historically High, But Continues Downward Trend
This brings the total number of Americans that have been out of work since March 14, when the COVID-19 shock began, to more than 30.5 million. This is a sobering, stunning figure without precedent. Claims have been falling since the week that ended March 28, when almost 6.9 million people filed claims. So while claims are still historically high, they have been falling for four straight weeks. The 3.8 million claims last week were more than 600,000 less than the week that ended April 18. The jobs losses are not equally distributed across states. For instance, 27 percent of Michigan's workforce as it stood in February is now out of work. That's the highest percentage in the country. Rhode Island is right behind. In contrast, South Dakota has seen the smallest share of its workforce claim unemployment at 6.6 percent. You can see data for each state here. With states easing stay-at-home restrictions, the hope is that the unemployed will be able to return to work sooner rather than later.

The Transportation Construction Industry is Paving the Way to Reopening
Transportation infrastructure plays a key role in the economic growth and quality of life for every American. The transportation construction industry has continued to work through the pandemic and is leading the way as parts of our country look to reopen.
The transportation construction sector has adjusted their safety practices during the pandemic and accelerated some transportation projects due to decreased traffic in work zones. Associated General Contractors of America's Brian Turmail outlined these efforts and highlighted the importance of getting federal action to allow the modernization of our nation's infrastructure during an Americans for Transport Mobility podcast.

The Federal Reserve Announces Important Changes to The Main Street Lending Program
The Federal Reserve in a press release yesterday announced significant and positive changes to The Main Street Lending Program. The Fed lowered the minimum loan size to $500,000 from $1 million, and expanded the pool of eligible borrowers to businesses with 15,000 employees (up from 10,000) or up to $5 billion in revenue (up from $2.5 billion) among other changes made of which CCMC advocated for in their letter sent to the Fed on April 16th. These improvements will make the program accessible to more American businesses, and will help eligible lenders administer the program more effectively.

Joint Statement by Administrator Jovita Carranza and Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin on Establishing Dedicated Hours for Small Lender Submissions of PPP Applications
WASHINGTON - U.S. Small Business Administration Administrator Jovita Carranza and U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin issued the following statement today on the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) amid continuing efforts to aid small community lenders, their small business customers, and ensure SBA's systems run efficiently:
"In order to ensure special access to the PPP loan program for the smallest lenders and their small business customers, the SBA is only accepting loans from lending institutions with asset sizes less than $1 billion from 4:00 p.m. EDT until 11:59 p.m. EDT on April 29, 2020. SBA is working to ensure that all eligible small businesses have access to this funding to sustain their businesses and keep their employees on payroll.
